What is MBSYEP?
The Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP) is a locally funded initiative that provides District youth ages 14 to 24 with an enriching summer employment experience through subsidized placements in the public and private sectors.
MBSYEP is managed by the DC Department of Employment Services. This is the 44th year, where MBSYEP will serve 10,000 youth through workforce development.

MBSYEP 2023 program will run for 6 weeks, it will start on June 26, 2023, and end on August 4, 2023.
What is there in MBSYEP 2023?
Participants and their families can expect an engaging and interactive summer. Youth will be paid based on successful participation at their assigned worksite.
What is the MBSYEP PROGRAM STRUCTURE?
It consists of a series of life skills and professional development modules designed to enhance confidence and improve employability of graduates. Modules can be easily incorporated into student success and career development courses, or integrated into core curriculum throughout the job seeker or student life-cycle. Career EDGE follows a read, listen, watch, apply format.
MBSYEP is working with the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) to secure equipment and internet access for youth who are in need.

*$16.10 increase to $17.00 on July 1, 2023.
